NEWPORT BEACH, CA – – Former United States Congressman John Campbell has endorsed Scott Baugh for Congress in the 48th District. Campbell was elected to the 48th District in 2005. He retired from Congress after choosing not to run for reelection in 2014.
“Scott Baugh will bring the right combination of real-world experience and conservative philosophy to Congress,” said Campbell. “He will fight to make our government less intrusive and less authoritarian and he will stand strong for taxpayers.”
“California’s 48th District is one of the most economically important and influential districts in the country. It deserves effective and influential representation in Washington. Scott Baugh will provide that leadership that is sorely needed,” said Campbell.
Campbell entered public service after a career as one of Orange County’s most successful business owners. At the time he announced his retirement from Congress, he said, “At the end of this term, I will have spent 14 years serving in full-time, elected politics. I am not nor did I ever intend to be a career politician. I am ready to begin a new chapter in my life.”
“John Campbell did it the right way. He didn’t see Congress as a life-long job that he was somehow entitled to, but as a short-term calling where he could go to raise important issues and make a difference for our District and for America,” said Baugh.
Scott Baugh is challenging 30-year incumbent Dana Rohrabacher. Baugh is the former Chairman of the Orange County Republican Party and former Assembly Republican Leader. He is also a successful Orange County business owner.
